Outlook 2007 SP1 will not work with a new user Reading pane is blank and outlook locks up

Problem:
Outlook 2007 SP1 will not work with a new user. Reading pane is blank and outlook locks up.

Solution:
When you open Outlook for a new user, it hides the dialog box to enter your initials (this only affects new users), so just open up Word, or Excel, and enter in the persons initials in that dialog box that you get there. Now Outlook should work. If the reading pane will still not display, just close Outlook (youll probably have to kill the process in task manager) and re-open.

Outlook categories colors are lost after data restore from backup or Outlook com How to backup and restore category colors

My Outlook 2013 E-Mail Profile went corrupt and i had to create a new one to be able to start Outlook again. Calendar, Tasks and Contacts were restored from Outlook.com, but I lost all the colors of my categories.

How-I-fixed-it:
Be sure to have a backup of a .pst-file that has the category colors inside.

I copied the These instructions from:
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/611

Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013

Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 store the Master Category list in the mailbox or pst-file itself so if you backup your pst-file, your Categories will be backed up as well.
This of course doesn’t allow you to easily share your Categories or use it in another mail profile. To allow for this you can use the following method;
Backup Categories
  1. Create an new Note item (keyboard shortcut: CTRL+SHIFT+N).
  2. Write “Categories” in it to give it a name.
  3. Close the Note item.
  4. Switch to your Notes folder (keyboard shortcut: CTRL+5).
  5. Right click on it and choose Categorize-> All Categories…
  6. Select all the Categories which you want to backup.
  7. Save the Note outside of Outlook as an msg-file Outlook via File-> Save as… or by dragging it out of Outlook and into an Explorer folder or onto your Desktop. By default it will be called Categories.msg
Restore Categories
  1. Open your Notes folder (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+5).
  2. Drag & drop the Categories.msg file from Explorer into the Notes folder.
  3. Switch back to the Mail Navigation (keyboard shortcut: CTRL+1).
  4. Right click on the top of your mailbox folder set and choose Properties.
  5. Click the button “Upgrade to Color Categories…”.
Outlook will scan your mailbox for items with Categories which aren’t in the Master Category List yet and will add them.

Office Home and Business 2010 Access keeps prompting for product key every startup Problem with Access 2007 runtime engine msain dll corrupt or missing

I have Office 2010 Home and Business an my Computer and things for OK for a long time. My ERP-Software which uses Access 2007 runtime engine was up and running for Ages. After installing a new time management software which (Zeitplan), which also seems to be based on Access runtime, problems started.

Starting my ERP-Software failed. An error prompt said "missing or currput msain.dll". Next time it suggested to start Access in Safe Mode, but that did not fix the Problem. The msain.dll was were i expected it to be (OfficeDir1031). Downloaded the dll from the Internet and replaced the existing one. No changes.
Re-Installed my ERP-Software. No changes.

Did a repair on Office 2010.
No my ERP-Software started to start, but then the Access 2010 splash Screen was shown and it prompted me to enter my Office 2010 Product Key. Entered the key, it was shown as valid, Office activated itself OK. But after a few seconds, i was prompted for the product key again. And again.  And so on.... (Word and Excel did not prompt on Startup. Thei Help box said, theyre activated).

I then had a look on the Internet and found out, that Office 2010 Home and Business Edition does not include Access.

How-i-fixed-it:
I found the right hints here (in German): http://www.dims.de/blog/?p=530

I removed Access from the Office 2010 Installation (Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Office 2010->Change). I also uninstalled the Access 2007 runtime.

I then re-installed the ERP-Software (which also installed the Access 2007 runtime again).

After that, the ERP-Software was running fine (and also the time Management software). No more product key prompts.

We have a Panasonic FP-D250 copier and it can scan documents.
There are two options to get the scanned file.
One is by writing it to the attached Zip drive.
The other option is using the DD Browser to pull the files off the hard drive.
I have found that in order to install the DD Browser on Windows XP that you have to install some imaging software that was only found on Win98.
If you need any of this software contact me and Ill email it to you.

Im having an odd problem today. My PC and that of another user is now giving us errors when we try to contact the main unit.
ERROR:HDP_ONLINE_READ_DOCIDX
I cannot find reference to this anywhere.
I have another user who can still use DD Browser just fine. Very odd.

If you wipe the OS and reinstall with lets say; Windows 7 Enterprise; then you will be missing a few drivers.
There was one device that just kept showing up as "Unknown Device" in Device Manager and turns out that it was the Hard Drive free fall sensor.  If you go to support.dell.com you will find that under the driver downloads and then the chipset section.

How to Fix IP Address Conflict

IP Address Conflict is usually temporary, but usually these issues will be completed by itself. In this paper we will discuss what is causing this problem and how to deal with it.

How to Fix IP Address Conflict 1

Suppose that at the moment we are using the computer and suddenly notice "There Is an IP address conflict with another system on the network". At that point we realized that we are no longer able to access the Internet, the connection to be disconnected and can not be used anymore.

Things like this often happens to a lot of users in the network and an error message is displayed seems not much help to resolve this issue. Unfortunately, this conflict is temporary and will be finished by itself. However, we do not know when this will happen and usually does not occur when the settlement was too, takes time, sometimes need to reboot to eliminate the problem.

To be able to resolve the IP address conflict issues, need to understand first what exactly the conflict. To be able to communicate in a network, a system must have an IP address and must be unique, at least in our own network. If two devices have the same IP address will be detected and then the second network interface devices they will be turned off resulting in lost connections, until the conflict is resolved. So, what exactly is causing this conflict? A common issue is if the two systems are given identical IP addresses statically (manually). This generally occurs on the network that do not apply the system DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol), as we often encounter on the network with DHCP kecil.Server scale are also commonly found in almost all routers use a set of IP Address as prepared (called a scope) so that he could distribute the addresses to respond to the request. However, the scope of the DHCP by default in most existing router, occupying the entire address is available, then one device that uses a static address in the network will lead to conflict, if the address has been given by the DHCP server to other users. We can minimize the possibility of conflict by reducing the number of addresses stored in the DHCP server pool (reduce scope), to fit the needs at that time. Thus, we still leaves a bunch of other addresses that can be assigned statically if necessary.

The IP address conflict issues will still arise even if we have chosen not to use static addressing, and fully implement automatic addressing through DHCP server. For example, in some cases we may have more than one DHCP server has been configured with the same settings, so they can overlap addressing. This often happens if we have some wireless access points or other network devices that also have a DHCP server in it and will work immediately when switched on. Therefore should we have only one DHCP server and make sure the other device has been turned off.

Other causes that lead to the problem of conflict is when a system back online from standby or hibernate state, especially if the system is a network of different members of the network when he revived. An example of this condition is when the notebook was alive and is part of a network in the office, brought into condition by or hibernates and then revived in other offices that have different network. Conflicts will arise if it turns addressing the network configuration is the same as the configuration of the previous office.

If the cause of the conflict that has been discussed above could have been avoided, the conflict would still occur malfunctions may occur if the DHCP server is used, which leads to loss of records on addressing system used. It is common in most routers.

Heres an easy way to change the ip address of your computer:
Click "Start" - "Run" and type "cmd" and press enter, simply click on the Windows 7 Start and type cmd in the box "Search Programs and Files".
Then type the command:

ipconfig / release

Then a window will appear as below

Then type the command again:

ipconfig / renew

The command "ipconfig / renew" This will create a new ip on our computers, in case of conflict ip, if not he would reuse the same ip previously.

To find ip what we wear, simply type the command:
ipconfig

You are still using the "Command Prompt" where we can also change the IP address of the computer we use the command "Netsh"
For those who use static ip of telecoms speedy, usually we are given a public ip itself, to change the ip can use the command:
netsh Set IP Address "local area connection" static 10.10.10.5 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0 1
that
Local area connection = name of local computer networks
10.10.10.5 = ip address of your computer
= 255.255.255.0 subnet ip address our computer
10.10.10.1 = Gateway

1 = Address IP Gateway specified, usually always start number 1, depending on the setting masing2 router (eg gateway 10.10.10.1 - so figure that is loaded is 1)
If the ip address of the computer that we will change is in connection wireless / wifi eat the name "local area connections" we change it to "Wireless Network Connections" tegantung whether the name is already exchanged anything yet.
Then to replace its DNS servers follow the following command:

Netsh Interface IP Set dns "local area connection" static 110.137.8.2

where:
110.137.8.2 = dns server
Then if your computer will automatically use the ip address given by the router (DHCP) Type the command:
Netsh Interface IP Set Address "local area connection" DHCP

Then set dns also follow DHCP

Netsh Interface IP Set dns "local area connection" DHCP

Okay, so lets do it :D

Unattended Removal of the Oracle 8i Client

This week Im working on the removal of the Oracle 8i Client, but found that something was locking core40.dll so that I could not delete the ORANT folder.
I went to www.systernals.com and got listdlls.exe to help track down what was locking that dll.
Turns out it was SMS 2003.
I repackaged the uninstall of the Oracle Client. This cleaned up the registry, but I had to do some work before I could delete the files from c:ORANT.
After the package deleted all the reg keys I ran a batch file that used listdlls.exe to find the PID (process) that was holding core40.dll. Then I had SMS stop the service for CcmExec.exe and kill its parent process svchost.exe. Then I was able to delete the ORANT folder.

Boeing MBD data administrator

Well, Im now the Boeing MBD (Model Based Definition) data administrator for Skills Inc (in addition to being the Sr. System Admin).
I have been working for the last few months on our methods and I will be posting some useful information here to help others who need to take on this.
Background: MBD is Boeings way of handing off drawing responsibilities to the suppliers to "save money". Yea. Right.

I have created a InfoPath form that we use to write our logs to a Microsoft SQL2005 database per the Boeing MBD requirements outlined in our DPD (Digital Product Definition) Quality Assurance Plan.

I also wrote a Vb script that will fetch our MBD CAD (CATIA) files from Boeing for us.
This is what it does:

1. The script connects to our Boeing SNET (tdi) account and pulls down via FTP the pickup.log file that shows all files that they have for us. This doesnt actually show the file name, so I just glean the beginning of the name from the log and use a wildcard for the rest when I do a get with FTP. The script will only look at files that have a date stamp of the current day, so I run this script daily with Task Scheduler in XP or Vista.

2. Then the script uses the list of new files from today to pull down the actual files.

3. Next it takes that file and DeCrypts it using the GNU GPG command line (PGP).

4. Then the script does a directory listing and looks for .zip files to uncompress, then .gz and .tar files. It does this 3 times since they are often nested 2 or 3 deep.

5. While powerarchiver is unzipping the archives, the script is sleeping, so sometimes you will notice a delay. Then it deletes the archive when its done so all you are left with is the uncompressed files.

6. Then it pops up the log file so you know something happend. This log also acts as a MBD required log for the download of the data from Boeing.

I will post the VB Script in the next posting and show some screenshots of my infopath log forms. If you would like a copy of the database and infopath form, just let me know!

Building my Cryptocurrency Mining Rig for DogeCoin and PopCoin

2014-01-18 16.31.382014-01-18 16.31.55
Note: The part images shown below are hyperlinked to examples on Amazon, ebay, etc. Click on the image to see the item.

My first mining rig
I decided to think outside the box and try to use some retired servers from work (Free!).  I had a Rackable Solutions server from SGI that had dual Xeon CPUs, 16GB of memory and 4 PCI-E slots.  It was a great candidate because the case was small and easy to mount to the wall in my garage by bolting it to some wire shelving I already had installed.  The server uses an Intel S5000PSL server motherboard, so drivers were easy to get from the Intel website and it’s running windows 7 Pro x64 just fine.  The fans on the back of the server were easy to flip around so that they would blow air over the CPU and memory in the open case.  I got a refurbished Corsair AX850 power supply from Fry’s for $108 (Now sold out).  My garage is really cold right now, so all I needed for cooling was an AC case fan that I got from Global Industrial for $39.95

I used plumbers pipe hanging straps that come in a roll at your local hardware store and some motherboard standoffs to hang the video cards from the wire shelving.  Then to connect the bases together I just used a cheap wood lathe from my hardware store.
The video cards are Sapphire Radeon 7950 Video cards that I got on Newegg.com for about $350 refurbished.  Very hard to find any 7950s for under $400.

Video Card Risers
I started off with just one type of powered riser card and then found out I didn’t really need a powered riser unless I went above two video cards, so now I have a good mix of risers that I can change in and out as needed if I expand. I have not tried my new “USB 3.0” Riser yet, but I like the flexibility it offers.

My Mistakes

Power Supplies - My first power supply was a 700 watt Thermaltake PSU ($39 after rebate), but I fried it because I wasn’t paying attention to the Watts being used on my Kill-A-Watt when I added a second card.  I did run for a while at around 820, but then I added a third card and connected that to another 750, but forgot about the 75 watts being pulled from the board by that third card and Pow! no more PSU.  I think that if your just running 2 cards, an 850 watt PSU should be perfect.  My Corsair is running at about 800.  If you want 3, then you could do (1) 1200watt or (2) 700 PSUs and just split the load across the cards.  You can jumper the 2nd PSU to keep it running all the time or get an adapter like I did.

power-split sata-molex

You should also make sure your PSU has enough PCI-E power cables for your cards or some available Molex connectors that you can use with the power adapters that usually come with the video cards.  I was using a PSU from a Dell workstation that had no molex power connectors so I had to order some SATA to Molex power adapters too.  The shipping costs just as much as these adapters, so I decided I would make sure I had extras of everything.  Nothing sucks more that having your rig down for a week while you wait for a $9 cable to come in the mail!  If you have the time, don’t hesitate to order this stuff from China on eBay.  I do it all the time to save money and the quality is fine.  You just have to give it 2 or 3 weeks to arrive.

Video Card Drivers
Get this wrong and your hash rates will be horrible.  The SDK and Drivers that most people recommend for CGMiner 3.7.2 (The last version that supported Scrypt GPU mining) is older and that might be related to when CGMiner 3.7.2 was written.  If you already installed the latest drivers, you will need to uninstall all AMD drivers, and then navigate to the WindowsSysWOW64 directory and remove "OpenCL.dll" and "amdocl.dll".  Then reboot and install the SDK and drivers listed below.  More about that here: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2312428
For SDK I use version 2.7 for my x64 bit windows: AMD-APP-SDK-v2.7-Windows-641.exe
For Drivers I use version 12.8 for my 7950 cards:
12-8_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc.exe

CGMiner 3.7.2 Settings
If you have the same Sapphire Radeon 7950 that I have, you can go ahead and give these settings a shot and see what you get.
Im getting around 650 Mh/s per Video card. Here is my settings for mining Popular Coin or POP.
I just created a batch file called Mine-POP.bat in the same folder as cgminer.exe and use that to run the miner.
I found running my settings from a batch file easier than using the cgminer.conf file.
Feel free to mine on my account for testing.  The free hashing is appreciated!

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pop.algoholics.com:3351 -O BitPopJobshopr.SGI:x -I 20 --thread-concurrency 24768 -w 256 --temp-target 80 --auto-fan --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1450 --gpu-powertune 20

If you look at my CGMiner screen below you will see that I don’t have any hardware errors.  If you see errors here or your Video Card drivers crash, you may need to bring down your Intensity (Currently –I 20) and your concurrency.  You might also need to make sure you can over clock your video card using MSI AfterBurner.

Remote Management
Once you have everything running, I recommend installing CGWatcher and CGRemote.  This is a must for automating the management of your rig if it’s not your main PC.
I also use TightVNC for remote access and do not have anything connected to my rigs.  This is called running headless.  Don’t use remote desktop (RDP) since it doesn’t always interact with your video cards correctly (like when your over clocking them).
CGRemote
I’m going to give a shout out to my favorite Mining Pool for PopCoin, LottoCoin and RonPaulCoin, http://pop.algoholics.com
For DogeCoin I like http://hashdogs.org
Thanks for reading.  If this helped you, please leave a tip.

Sonic Updater does not work on my Dell

I was watching my firewall logs one morning and I kept seeing this message:
65.115.67.11:80/servlet/StorageGuard/update/updateclientversion=
2.1&version=99.99&language=enu&oem=vsg&bannerDate=05/01/2010]
Error while sending/rec

After some research I found that "StorageGuard" was part of sgtray.exe that Sonic was using to check for updates with its Update Manager that was installed in the run area of the registry on all the new Dell 2400 PCs I purchased in 2004.

I removed that run key from the registry.
I dont know why sonic would issue an update program that used an IP address instead of a host name. Very stupid. Now that the IP address is a dead end, all those copies of Sonic cannot update themselves.

How can I make my Windows PC Tablet kid safe Where can i find a kid safe web browser How can I hide Windows Apps from my kids on the computer

I was looking for an Windows application to make my tablet kid safe for my three year old son.  I tried with Microsoft familysafety, which works pretty OK, but did not fully satisfy me, because it still left too many things on the computer accessable (Standard apps like store etc. are still there) and iI found it too complicate to allow access to selected videos on YouTube to him.
I was looking for an application that can be placed in AutoStart under his account, runs in Kiosk mode and hides everything on the computer from him which is not declared accessable by partents. It should like his own little world on my computer with games and internet content suitable for his age.

How-Ifixed-it:
In "Magic Desktop" i exactly found what I was looking for: http://www.magicdesktop.com/en-US/Product

How to Fix Dead Motherboard with this noob skill

How to Fix Dead Motherboard with this noob skill

In many cases damage to the computer when the computer does not turn on someone who intends repair its own computer makes more damage than the damage that already exists. Every one of devices computer repairs is always a way of its own and that is often a problem. The prospective technicians look for damage to the memory, for example, in terms of damage to the power supply. This is called fault diagnosis and repairs computer errors procedures. Then if the computer is off at all, how the repair procedure?
CASE: The computer is off at all, all the indicator lights are lit none. Where is the damage? The first logic that must be owned is that the computer can only be turn on if there is power supply.
solution:

Procedure 1 Are electricity in your home is not off the lights turn on alias? When the computer is turned on during the day and the computer will not turn on, do not always directly tamper with the power supply cable. Make sure in advance that the electricity in your home not being problematic.

Procedure 2: If the above procedure 1 was certainly not a problem then it means causes the computer will not turn on because the power is not there. The next step, which is responsible for the electric power supply cable and the power supply itself. Check the power cord and power supply if need be tested with a multimeter to ensure that the cable is not broken.

Procedure 3: Test Powersuply. If the power supply cord was confirmed well, then that should be in the next check is the power supply itself. Make sure that the power supply is not a problem, for example if the cord is properly installed on the mainboard, not to loose etc..

Procedure 4: Check the power button on the computer. If it is confirmed power supply is still good, then the next step is to check all the keys on the CPU duty conduct electricity, among others; * Power button key (old model). * Power switch ignition power supply (usually at the front of the computer). * Power
turn on the power strip, surge protector, or UPS (if you have one).

Procedure 5: Check the mainboard. If steps 1-4 above also does not resolve the problem, then we entered the mainboard to be checked. Ensure that all other hardware wiring is properly attached to the mainboard, especially the output of the power supply cable. If you suspect there, should be removed first and then put back with convincing.

Procedure 6: Check Processor. If you are sure that the mainboard has no problem and the computer still on strike, most of your first check is next Processor. In all cases I have found (power supply and the mainboard is still well) the only device that makes the computer does not react at all when the power button is pressed Processor. Other hardware such as memory are often damaged and not vga freezes the computer at all. If memory or vga damaged, still no reaction on the computer but not perfect.

Procedure 7: Mainboard is damaged. If at point 6 above you are sure that the processor is still well (certainly through test trials) and there is also a computer does not respond then I became very confident that the mainboard. If this is you have to replace your mainboard

Procedure 8 Check the monitor. After passing through stage 7 above, had no response and CPU indicator light is on, the fan and the power supply has no display at all then it means the problem is on the monitor around. Make sure the monitor is connected properly. Make sure the VGA cable to the monitor is still well and well attached.

Procedure 9 Other damage. After 8 steps above and your computer is on and normal road operating system then your problem is completed.
NOTE AGAIN: If in the first step above 8 computer is on but not normal, for example only a blue screen appears with the words you do not understand. Maybe you should look at before-previous post

I think maybe its just that it should be considered to repair the total dead computer

SOLVED Windows 10 Preview Build 9841 fails to upgrade to 9860

Today the first update to the Windows 10 preview came out.
When I tried to upgrade I got this error:
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80080005

My Windows 10 install is an upgraded Windows 8.1 PC that was updated from Window 8 RTM.  I have Visual Studio so I have many options turned on, like IIS. (Internet Information Server)
I installed the x64 Enterprise version from the ISO download.

This is the errors I got from the Event viewer after the upgrade failed 3 minutes into the upgrade:

This didnt fix the problem alone, so  I dont know if this is required.

When I researched these 2 error I found references to IIS for both of them, so I decided to uninstall IIS to see if that helped.

After uninstalling IIS and a reboot, the upgrade worked!

WatchGuard Firebox Firewall Blocking eBay Javascript

Something changed the other day on ebay and my ability to add items to my watch list and click on the shipping tab stopped working.  At first I thought that IE was blocking javascript, but then i found that firefox was doing the same thing.
After a little digging in the source of the ebay page I found that the CSS was loading from ebaystatic.com.
I opened up my Firebox config file for my HTTP Proxy Rule and added *.ebaystatic.com to the HTTP Proxy Exception list and everything started working again.

WiFi Authentication issues failed after Standby Hibernate after Upgrading to Windows 8 1 with Intel 4965AGN on Dell XPS M1330 with Fritz!Box 7330

Before upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, everything was working fine on my computer. After upgrading to 8.1 yesterday, it happens, that my Computer does not re-connect to my WiFi after StandBy/Hibernate. I have to disable/enable the Adapter to connect to the WiFi again.
My Router reports that the "Autentication failed" for my adapters MAC-Address. I have a Fritz!Box 7330 with latest Firmware. The error message is "WLAN-Anmeldung ist gescheitert: Autorisierung fehlgeschlagen".
The Network Adapter is a Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN in a Dell XPS M1330.
I went through numerous threads on the forums reporting similar issues with Intel WiFi Adapters, but none of the suggestions fixed my Problem.

The Driver Version displayed for the Adapter is 13.3.0.137, dated 15.08.2010 by Microsoft.

How-I-fixed it:
In the device Power Management settings uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Since i did this, the WiFi is stable.

Update:
Found out that the same problem occurs with Intel 3945 ABG network adapter. Fix also works for this adapter.

How To Use Laptop Battery For Long Life

How To Use Laptop Battery For Long Life

Energy Saving Tips Laptop
Laptops require energy to maximize its performance. But with its continuous flow of electricity on a laptop or computer can cause the breakdown of the expenditure of energy. On this occasion, I will share tips on how to save energy or laptop.

Listen following 9 tips that you can use to save energy consumption and laptops, electrical energy is guaranteed you will not be broken in use.

1. Set the monitor brightness and contrast

Possible for the lay person or a beginner in using computers, they rarely pay attention to their monitor settings. What is meant in this case is the level of illumination and contrast set too high will be able to spend a lot of energy. So for that you should be able to adjust the brightness and contrast, to adjust the monitor brightness and contrast using the button at the bottom of the monitor.

2. Turn off the monitor

The tips of the two is to turn off the monitor, especially the monitor type is the type of CRT (Cathode Ray Tubel), because these types of monitors consume more electricity. So, if you want to leave the laptop for a long time, you should turn off your monitor.

You can also setting up Windows to automatically direct die within a certain time, it can be done in a way, click "Control Panel-Options". In the "Power Options Properties" tab click the "Power Schemes". Then click the arrow in the "Power Schemes" and select "Home / Office desk". Then select the desired time on the "Turn Off Monitor" and click "Apply" and "OK".

3. Turn off hard disks

Although we are not doing anything on your computer, but your data will always be read from the hard disk (by the operating system and some applications). For this reason, the hard disk hard disk will be constantly spinning and of course this will consume energy. If you want to leave your laptop in a long time, then you should turn off your laptop hard disk. In the "Power Options Properties" and then click the "Power Schemes". Click the arrow in the "Power Schemes" and select "Home / Off desk". Then click "Turn off hard disks" and select the time. Then click "Apply" and "Ok".

4. Turn off other equipment

Turn off other equipment such as, speakers, external modems, scanners, Zip drives and printers. Because the equipment it is to spend a lot of energy. Often people leave the equipment in an active state, even when we were out for a long time.

5. Hibernate Mode

Hibernate mode is the facility to shut down, but not close or shut down the application that we are open earlier. This can be done by Mode "Hibernate". With this mode, the contents of main memory (RAM) will be stored in the hard disk. How to do the hibernate mode is as follows, the "Power Options" tab click on "Hibernate". Then click the close box "Enable Hibernation". Also click on the "Advanced" tab. In the "When I press the power button" and then click the arrows then click the "Hibernate". Click "Apply" and "Ok". After that press the "Power" on your computer. Hibernate mode is functioning, press the "Power" once again, your computer will turn on and will automatically open the application you have open earlier.

6. Standby Mode

In order to save energy, we recommend setting your monitor and hard disks are in the lowest part in standby mode. If you want to leave the laptop for a while, you should activate the standby mode. But you should know is, when the active standby mode data have not you save may be damaged or lost if your laptop is damaged. We recommend that you first save your data or documents before you activate this standby mode. Standby mode can be done in a way, click the "Start-Turn Off Computer" and click "Standby".

7. Battery Laptop

If you charge the battery of the laptop, make sure his charge process is complete. Because the charge that carried a half-half and then resumed, it will actually spend a lot of energy. If you want to travel, you should take 2 battery. To minimize battery consumption, you can use the features of Hibernate / Suspended or use an electric socket that plugs into a wall outlet.

8. USB Port

If while you are using the laptop and then you insert one into the USB port on your laptop, you should immediately released when its finished it. Because the equipment is still plugged in the USB port, it can also spend energy on your PC or laptop. Should remove it if that’s enough of usage.

9. Scheme Energy consumption Laptop

Usually a laptop manufacturer also includes features and power management software. This software is very useful for the consumer laptop, because the software is able to regulate the use of a battery and electrical power is being used. In this software there are several options that can be used to determine the load of hard disks and other energy that is being used by the laptop. Among know the speed of the processor or monitor the proper lighting to be able to save the battery. This software also can be a watchdog for us to use a laptop.

Thus article 10 Energy Saving Tips Laptop and PC, hopefully this article can be helpful and useful for you. Thank you for visiting this blog.

Vista Sp1

I just got a New Gateway FX530 at home and it came with Vista Home Ultimate.
I would have taken XP if given a choice. :)
I just installed SP1. I had some problems with the upgrade and also after because I was using the free version of Bit Defender 10.
I unistall that and installed Symantec Corp 10.2 and now things have become much more stable.
On our test Vista machines at work we have had nothing but problems.
We have had odd Printing problems, like loosing the ability to choose a default printer.
Hopefully the SP1 that I downloaded from Technet will fix all that.
There are some Photo and Video tools that are nice in Vista, but I still like XP better.
This new FX530 handles it fairly well, but its a powerhouse. Core2Duo, 2GB RAM, monster video card.

Installing SLQ 2000 Reporting Services after XP SP2 will kill your PC!

I just found out that the SQL 2000 Reporting Services support files overwrite some critical files that XP Sp2 updated.

It replaced two system32 files dated 8/4/2004 with older ones dated 10/8/2003 and hosed my system.

After I rebooted it went into a loop of almost getting to the login screen, but then rebooting the machine. Crash!

READ: Unbootable. So if you install XP SP2 before RS, make sure you backup these files before you run the RS setup replace the files BEFORE a reboot.

I ran the install followed by RS Sp1 and then replaced the files and everything was fine. These are the files from the system32 directory:

msvcp60.dll

msvcrt.dll

All of this is on my workstation. If you install XP SP2 after RS you would be fine of course.. that is unless later you pop in the CD to install the test database!

FYI

I had to kill MSDTC in the process list before it would let me replace msvcp60.dll.

C LINQ Query on SQL Server View using Entity Framework 5 returns duplicate rows because of non unique values in records first colum

In my C# VS2012 Project Im using EF5 to query an SQL Server 2008 R2 database. Today we run into the strange issue that a query on a view  returned the expected number of rows, but the data contained many duplicate records. Running the created SQL-query in Management Studio, the results were fine.

How-I-fixed-it:
I found the right hints here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3977920/entity-framework-view-return-duplicate-records
and here:
http://jepsonsblog.blogspot.in/2011/11/enitity-framework-duplicate-rows-in.html?showComment=1348809764880#c1389404724781617559

The Problem was, that the FIRST column of my view was not a unique key, which seems to confuse EF.

Running the query in Management Studio returned:

Col1,Col2,Col3
1,0,1
1,1,1
1,2,1
2,0,7

In my code the result list of records was:
Col1,Col2,Col3
1,0,1
1,0,1
1,0,1
2,0,7

According to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3977920/entity-framework-view-return-duplicate-records its important, that the first colum of the query result contains a unique key:

When including a view in your Entity Model, the model seems to simply use the first not-nullable columns as primary key (as all columns used in the primary key should be non-nullable).

The suggestion how to fix it is to use the ROW_NUMBER () OVER () SQL to create an additional FIRST column in you view which has unique keys. Then update the model in Visual Studio.

WOW Slider image slideshow shows only gray background animation does not start over manual editing of css and HTML files

Today i run into the problem that my image slideshow created with WOW Slider showed a gray background after the last Image and it took very look until the slideshow started again at the beginning.

How-I-fixed-it:
I turned out, that I caused the problem by manually editing the css and js files created by WOWSlider. The files have to exactly fit to the number of images defined in the
part of the html file, because the timing of the whole slideshow is calculated by WOW Slider at the time creating the files. If the number of
  • entries in the
part of the html-file is changed afterward, it does no longer match the number of keyframes defined in the css Stylesheet.

Example:
For 5 Images in the slideshow, WOW Slider created 10 keyframes in the stylesheet:

@keyframes wsBasic{0%{left:-0%} 14.59%{left:-0%} 20%{left:-100%} 34.59%{left:-100%} 40%{left:-200%} 54.59%{left:-200%} 60%{left:-300%} 74.59%{left:-300%} 80%{left:-400%} 94.59%{left:-400%} }

With this code in the html I was able to reproduce the problem;

<div id="wowslider-container1">

<div class="ws_images"><ul>

<li><img src="data1/images/wp_20140309_20_46_38_pro.jpg" alt="WP_20140309_20_46_38_Pro" title="WP_20140309_20_46_38_Pro" id="wows1_0"/></li>

<li><img src="data1/images/wp_20140329_16_21_24_pro.jpg" alt="WP_20140329_16_21_24_Pro" title="WP_20140329_16_21_24_Pro" id="wows1_1"/></li>

<li><img src="data1/images/wp_20140329_16_21_54_pro.jpg" alt="WP_20140329_16_21_54_Pro" title="WP_20140329_16_21_54_Pro" id="wows1_2"/></li>

<li><img src="data1/images/wp_20140329_16_23_04_pro.jpg" alt="WP_20140329_16_23_04_Pro" title="WP_20140329_16_23_04_Pro" id="wows1_3"/></li>

</ul></div>

When manually editing the WOW Slider HTML code, be sure, the number of images is not changed!
